What is Paris?
Paris is a well-proven Variable Data Publishing (VDP) solution which is employed by thousands of organisations across more than 50 countries. It was designed to help organisations improve the way they send business, transactional and marketing communications to their customers, partners and suppliers. Paris is a solution that allows organisations to turn data into powerful revenue generating and/or cost saving activities.
Extending the functionality and integrating with virtually any host system/application (e.g. ERP, CRM, SCM, Financial systems, HRM, Mainframe, Unix, & ISV applications), Paris is a windows-based application that takes data from these applications and converts it into dynamic, professional looking electronic documents which can then be intelligently distributed based on various conditions (e.g. emailed, printed, faxed, archived, or any combination). Additionally, with fully automated workflow, Paris allows organisations to automate the entire communication process resulting in quicker design, distribution, and response times of key business and transaction documents.
The Background
Organisations invest a lot of time, effort and cost developing and managing key business process and the applications that support these processes. Unfortunately, many organisations forget to focus on the quality and process of how these systems and processes generate and disseminate key business documents and communications to their customers, suppliers, and partners (e.g. invoices, PO’s, statements, marketing campaigns, letters, etc). As a result, many organisations send out poor looking communications in inefficient and ineffective ways to their customers, suppliers, and partners. This can lead to issues such as long order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, high operational costs, lost revenue possibilities, and a potentially damaging effect on company image due to poor looking business documents and communications.
Paris was therefore designed to address this issue by offering a complimentary solution which integrates with existing processes and applications and revolutionises the way organisations communicate with their customers, suppliers and partners.
The collective term in the industry for what the Paris solution does is Variable Data Publishing (VDP). In simple terms, VDP is the creation of personalised communications by merging data imported from a host system or database into pre-designed forms, which is then published via a range of cross-media options (email, fax, archive, print, web).
The Paris Architecture
The main examples of VDP applications include the following:
> Transactional documents - e.g. invoices, statements, PO's, results, applications, shipping dockets, policies, results, claims, etc
> Trans-promotional communications - using transaction documents to send targeted, relevant and personalised marketing and advertising campaigns
> Personalised marketing campaigns - personalised and targeted direct mail, postcards, coupons, flyers
> Miscellaneous variable data applications - labels, pricelists, barcodes, packing slips, business cards, personalised books, etc.
